Introduce your student to the magic of spelling with the Spelling You See Jack and Jill Set. This engaging set uses classic nursery rhymes to help your student develop essential spelling skills. The Student Workbooks come with a Guide to Handwriting. One daily lesson consists of two facing pages. Each of the 36 lessons is divided into five parts, A through E. Students and instructor read the week’s rhyme together. In Jack and Jill Student Workbook Part 1, students copy a short phrase or sentence and then fill in a set of letter boxes, focusing on short vowel sounds. Jack and Jill Student Workbook Part 2 continues the nursery rhyme theme, but the student will begin to find vowel and consonant patterns in each passage (“chunking”), and also begin more extended copywork.

The Spelling You See Jack and Jill Set includes an Instructor’s Handbook and Student Workbooks and is ideal for instructors and students who are new to Spelling You See or are teaching this level for the first time. This set includes everything you need to achieve success.

The Learning Format
Spelling You See’s consistent format guides students through the five essential activities: listening, reading, chunking, copywork, and dictation (presented at the appropriate developmental stage). These activities help students transfer the correct spellings of common words they see in print to long-term memory, enabling them to eventually be able to reproduce the correct spellings in their everyday writing. Lessons are limited to short daily sessions to keep interest and enthusiasm high. There are no word lists to memorize and no weekly tests. Spelling You See is a program based on years of research into how students learn to spell. Students become effective communicators as they grasp the proper spelling of words in the English language.
