Description
Students will explore six themes in literature—conflict, character, theme, point of view, structure, and tone—all through a biblical worldview. Fundamentals of Literature, 3rd Edition, contains a variety of literature selections, including “The Most Dangerous Game,” selections from The Odyssey, “The Gift of the Magi”, selections from Don Quixote, a complete study of the drama Cyrano de Bergerac, and many other works. Students will enhance their close-reading and critical-thinking skills as they answer text-based questions and complete writing assignments that encourage thoughtful analysis of literature.
Filled with eye-catching art that complements the literary selections, the student edition includes engaging passages to read and analyze. The student edition opens each unit with an Essential Question that guides students to think analytically about the works they read. Students will also create multimedia presentations to reflect what they have learned in the text.
This updated teacher edition has a structured pathway for lessons that guides teachers and students through the teaching cycle. It provides whole-class instruction, independent learning activities, and collaborative learning opportunities and has a wide range of teaching strategies in each chapter to reach most learners. Reading comprehension strategies are woven throughout each lesson to help learners comprehend and retain what they are reading.
The assessments packet has 6 unit tests and 1 final exam. It also includes reading standardized test practices and comprehension quizzes. Word lists and vocabulary standardized test practices are also part of the packet. All tests and quizzes have a provided answer key.
